We have Mail: Any idiot can clean? With reference to your recent lead article (Any idiot can clean? www.facebook.com/Cleanzine), those of us connected to the cleaning industry are blighted before we even start. Skilled professionals in all their individual areas, (engineers, surgeons, pilots etc) are respected for their skill, their knowledge, and their application. We all admire them, but unfortunately every adult on the planet is a cleaner!! All have been made to clean at some time in their life at home, or in their personal environment, and they think they are now experts, so when a professional cleaner performs, he or she is facing silent but intense scrutiny from the outset. Welcome to the
Cleanzine - the original Cleaning & Hygiene industry e-news Read by industry professionals in 148 countries worldwide! I’m almost ashamed to admit it but news reports that have surfaced recently reveal that some British children are still wearing nappies when they start school (at around four/five years of age) because their parents haven’t, for one reason or another, made sure they were toilet trained at the age they should have been! Something that surprised me almost as much as this, is that today one of the teachers is quoted as saying that two of the carpets in her school have had to be replaced because children have accidentally urinated on them. What a shame that those running these establishments (which are supposedly so short of money that they can’t pay for sufficient numbers of qualified teachers) aren’t aware that a cleaning professional - using the right products and procedures - should be able to bring the carpet back up to good-as-new, sweet-smelling condition, without nearly as much disruption or expense! The premier event for the cleaning industry in the Central & Eastern European region, ISSA/Interclean Central & Eastern Europe (CEE), was held two weeks ago at the Warsaw International Exhibition Centre in Warsaw, Poland. It attracted almost 200 exhibitors from 26 countries and was once again deemed a real success. The organisers tell us that there were 3,706 visits over the event's three days and that these included 3,035 unique visitors from 55 countries. This was a 27% increase in international visits, compared to the 2011 edition. New, simplified naming system for Tork wiping products The same high quality products with new, simpler names and more customer-focused packaging - this is what Tork manufacturer SCA is bringing to its customers. Facilities managers and property owners urged to be alert on sewer flooding In a year which has seen increased flooding across the UK (and many parts of the world) and an ongoing stand-off between Government and the Association of British Insurers regarding flood insurance, a significant cause of property flooding - sewers, appear to have flowed under the radar. Incentive FM adds Northampton's venue to shopping centre contract portfolio Independent facilities management company Incentive FM has signed a three-year deal to provide a fully integrated TFM solution at the Legal & General owned Grosvenor Centre in Northampton.
