Prochem wins eco standard accreditation
With chemical products under more scrutiny than most, it's reassuring to know you can purchase cleaning solutions from manufacturers with a high profile of environmental awareness. The label to look out for is British Standard EN ISO 14001:2004 - and after an extensive audit of the company's Environmental Management System, Prochem Europe has been granted certification to this standard.
The audit found that Prochem demonstrated reduced usage of gas, electricity and water (excluding product manufacture) as well as waste control to landfill between 2013 and 2014.
Also, partly as a result of the rainwater and grey water collection and recycling system in the company's truckmount bay as a 'best practice' initiative, the auditor extended the scope of certification to include 'specialist cleaning equipment including accessories, service and maintenance'.
Company managing director Alan Tilley believes that ISO 14001 EMS accreditation is now arguably more important to business than the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, which Prochem achieved in 1992.
"We are very pleased to be accredited to this standard and particularly for how all our staff promoted confidence in the auditor's perception that our EMS is an intrinsic part of the daily business here," he says.
"We know it to be true - it's even nicer when someone else tells us!"
