Safety requirements published for human robot collaboration

* EUnited-robots.jpgEunited Robotics - the European Robotics Association - reports that the ISO Technical Specification with safety requirements for industrial human-robot collaboration (ISO/TS 15066) was finalised by the responsible international ISO working group in December 2015 and published by ISO on February 15, 2016.

The document can be ordered at ISO store (www.iso.org). ISO/TS 15066 contains requirements for the safe implementation of robots in collaborative operations and with robotics being used more and more in cleaning, the publication is timely.

In order to assess the potential hazards resulting from a collision between worker and robot, the outcome of studies on biomechanical limits for permissible contacts between human and robot were taken into account. The aim of ISO/TS 15066 is to deliver workable requirements for the users of human robot collaboration and requirements for the safe implementation of collaborative applications.
