Working together to keep schools clean and safe

* Working-Together.jpgThe Cleaning Company is working with Avon House Preparatory School to keep its premises hygienically clean whilst also meeting the pinnacle of safeguarding standards.

All members of the Cleaning Company's carefully selected team, responsible for the Avon House contract, are thoroughly trained, appropriately vetted and therefore qualified to work in an educational environment. Their training includes working towards the highest cleaning criteria and recommendation, to maintain well-presented premises and reduce the risk of infection and cross-contamination.

"This was an exciting opportunity and we have ensured that at all levels, the contract is fulfilled," says Chan Mehta, managing director of The Cleaning Company. "Our experience within this sector has given us an ability to showcase our cleaning industry credentials expertise."

However, within a school environment, keeping areas clean is just part of the process. The Cleaning Company has taken steps to ensure that cleaning teams are trained to understand crucial safeguarding protocol and procedures. Being aware of these points and necessary escalation where appropriate, is key for all adults working within schools.

"A child might confide or reach out to any regularly seen adult if they are worried, neglected, abused or fear an imminent threat to their safety," adds Chan.

The Cleaning Company has produced training and guidance information which summarises key areas of the Keeping Children Safe in Education document and advises on how to identify specific problems and the necessary course of action.

Mrs Campbell, Avon House Preparatory School, says of the contract: "We trust The Cleaning Company's expertise to keep our school clean and hygienic whilst also being reassured, that their teams are expertly trained to understand the necessary legislation regarding the safeguarding of children.

"In addition to our outstanding calibre of education, we also put children's safety and wellbeing at the forefront of our responsibilities."

Adds Chan: "The Cleaning Company looks forward to continuing a close working relationship with Avon House and feels strongly, that this developed opportunity demonstrates that the safeguarding of children is a major priority for both the school and the contractor, and should be a part of any schools' decision making process, when appointing specialist cleaning contractors.
