Nviro cleans crime scenes as part of three year contract with Hampshire Police
Cleaning contractor Nviro has successfully retained and increased the value of its contract with the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner for Hampshire after undergoing a rigorous retendering process via Hampshire County Council's procurement team.
Nviro won the bid to clean police premises plus additional work involving crime scenes. Amanda Fry, Nviro's Regional Director, says of the win:
"We have been providing consistently high degrees of expertise and standards of service over the last five years. This is aligned with the high levels of flexibility that the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire requires for a unique contract, with its multiple sites and specific considerations."
The three-year contract, now worth over £3 million, includes sanitising scenes of crime.
A comprehensive three day training programme, which included the cleaning of simulated crime scenes, was undertaken at the National Academy of Crime Scene Cleaners by members of the Nviro staff to ensure that personnel will be confident in facing what might be traumatic scenes. Nviro is now one of fewer than 200 members of NACSC nationwide.
The training was undertaken by Amanda Fry and Charlotte Sleven, Training & Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ) Manager, in Bristol - said to be the only centre in the UK to provide such training.
In addition to this specialist course, Nviro cleaning operatives are trained to British Institute of Cleaning Science standards during induction and receive ongoing coaching. When working with the police it is essential that staff retain a high level of discretion, as they may come across sensitive data not suitable for the public, and this discipline is worked into the training course content to ensure full compliance.
