Gumwand donates to High Street Revival initiative

* GUM-WAND-2.jpgHampshire-based gum removal expert, Gumwand, is giving £3,000 worth of equipment and training to the winning town or city in the national initiative to reinvigorate the High Street: The Revive & Thrive Challenge. The package includes a Gumwand machine, starter pack (including chemicals and brass brushes) and training for the winner of the Challenge.

The Revive & Thrive Challenge will provide in total £150,000 of support to the winning town or city with the best ideas for bringing their High Street to life by connecting the various components within it.

The challenge is supported by the Historic Towns Forum, Essential Retail and The British Independent Retailers Association.

Chewing gum is a universal problem; gum flattened to the street can take up to five years to biodegrade, is unsightly and unhygienic. Whilst most gum-removal options are expensive and time-consuming, Gumwand removes the offending gum in a matter of seconds.

"We believe there is real benefit in connected and engaged towns across the UK," says Noel James, Director of HTF. "A successful retail industry and a revived High Street are good news for residents and traders alike."

Mark Barnes, Founder of Revive & Thrive comments: "An engaged community has the power to bring about change in bringing people together to preserve and protect their town, city, or High Streets.

"The Revive & Thrive Challenge is an action-led project driven in a commercial manner designed to complement and not compete with the work of Local Authorities and other organisations that depend on public money. The Challenge will deliver tools and training from a team of experts who can really make a difference in the future of our towns. Additionally, this will be a model and new direction that can be delivered in our communities across the UK."

Martin Whitbread, inventor of Gumwand comments: "No one likes the sight of chewing gum stuck to the floor, that's why we've created a machine that takes it off in seconds."

Gumwand is a British-owned invention; an environmentally friendly wand which safely removes chewing gum at a fraction of the cost, and in a fraction of the time, of other methods. It combines steam and 'green' detergents.

With over a decade in the chewing gum removals business, Gumwand's inventors first dreamed up this revolutionary new product in 2011 and have invested over £0.5million in its development.
