15% of companies have a sales catalogue but not a website with e-commerce
A staggering 15% of companies have a website without e-commerce, yet these same companies have a catalogue to drive sales, according to a new report.
The report, 'Channel Vision - Version 2.0', put together by design, marketing & print specialist Catalogues 4 Business (C4B) questioned more than 100 UK organisations. The report was drawn from a diverse mix of businesses, both B2B and B2C, and a combination of industry sectors.
Interestingly, the report showed that over 79% of companies stated that having a website with e-commerce was the most important when delivering sales. Additionally, having a website with e-commerce was also number one out of the top five in terms of delivering sales.
Ian Simpson, managing director at C4B comments: "The report highlights that a majority of companies have an information-driven website. Remarkably those same companies invest heavily in a catalogue, yet don't have an e-commerce function on their site. It just doesn't make sense.
"On top of this a significant 39% are not focused on Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) which means that they are missing out on valuable traffic for their business!"
The report also suggests that there is a big correlation between high performing web strategies and the use of catalogues. Companies with a big focus on e-commerce are three times more likely to have a catalogue and those companies that had both in place have seen their web sales uplift by 29%.
Ian concludes: "One in five are concerned about declining marketing budgets, yet at the same time companies are clearly focused on growing sales. Having a website with e-commerce is essential to sales, especially if you have a catalogue.
"Over 30% of sales have been directly attributed to using catalogues as a sales & marketing tool and a further 29% saw their web sales were being driven from a catalogue. Maybe it's time to rethink your catalogue strategy and how they can drive your sales and marketing?"
