Amsterdam gears up for largest industry showcase to date

ISSA/Interclean Amsterdam marks its 25th anniversary in 2014. In the past years, the show has earned international recognition, became the launch pad for product innovations worldwide and has a high level of loyalty from global visitors and exhibitors. All in all, there's a lot to celebrate.

"The 2014 edition is set to be a landmark event as we celebrate 25 biennial shows since 1967," says Rob den Hertog, Amsterdam RAI's Manager ISSA/Interclean. "We are working on special ways to mark this great occasion and we promise you a festive 25th birthday event.

"We are also always, of course, looking for new initiatives to provide the industry with business and networking opportunities and 2014 will be no exception. And as a product showcase with excellent networking, ISSA/Interclean is second to none."

The 25th edition will be the largest till date and proudly welcomes over 150 new exhibitors. And to make it easier for visitors to find their way around the 50.000 sq.m. fairgrounds, the show features a Washroom Area, High Pressure Area and a Steam Cleaning Area where exhibitors in these segments are conveniently clustered. Management and Mobility Solutions will also receive special attention. New in 2014 is an Outdoor Demo Show, bringing a multitude of equipment manufacturers, dealers and retailers together for a show filled with a variety of activities and demonstrations for outdoor cleaning.

The story begins when Interclean was born in Amsterdam's famous Cafe Hoppe. Two window washers, enjoying a dutch genever came up with the idea to organise an exhibition dedicated to cleaning. Since the very first Interclean in 1967, the exhibition has developed to become the world's leading trade fair for the cleaning industry.

The first edition of Interclean took place in 1967 and apart from growing in size and visitor numbers, there have been other changes to. In 1998, for example, the show made an alliance with ISSA and became ISSA/Interclean. Since this alliance the international flavour of the show has increased substantially and it has grown to become the most complete cleaning show in the world. The event has proudly gained international recognition and earned a high level of loyalty from global visitors and exhibitors. It has become an important business event for cleaning professionals worldwide, giving insights into global developments and providing a complete industry overview.

ISSA/Interclean Amsterdam is seen and praised as the flagship of the ISSA/Interclean trade show portfolio, attracting thousands of distributors from 130 countries and key decision-makers from the largest industrial, commercial, medical, institutional, hospitality, and educational facilities worldwide.
Some 670 manufacturers from 42 countries presented their latest products and solutions at the last Amsterdam show in 2012, while 28,001 visitors registered to attend -up from 23,415 in 2010. "The Amsterdam show is a truly international show with 72% international attendance," adds Rob den Hertog. "Countries representing the highest visitor numbers are Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Scandinavian countries, Spain, Russia and the United States.

"In our effort to attract new visitors from the growing economies, we are happy to see that the biggest growth in attendance numbers is from Eastern Europe (Russia, Latvia, Estonia), South Africa, Asia (India, UAE, Japan) and Turkey."

The numerous product demonstrations gave potential users the opportunity to experience the products, while the ISSA Educational Conference, Minicongres, High Pressure demonstration area and the Miniskills were all well visited and received good feedback.

"There was a great vibe throughout the event and we are proud to host the global cleaning world under one roof here in Amsterdam, offering a complete range and overview of the industry," says Rob.
