Cannon Hygiene takes Gold in people management

* Cannon-Hygiene.jpgCannon Hygiene UK has been awarded the Gold standard by Investors in People (IIP), recognising best practice in people management. IIP is a standard used by thousands of organisations across the world, and the Gold award is only given to those businesses that are able to meet an additional 126 requirements on top of the 39 core IIP objectives.

Cannon Hygiene employees were interviewed by IIP across a number of service centres and Head Office as part of a rigorous and objective process.

Howard Sedgwick, managing director of Cannon Hygiene UK who joined in January 2012, says: ''After initially being awarded the standard IIP accreditation in 2001, securing the Gold award acknowledges our commitment to continually invested in our people.

"This is definitely their achievement and they have been fundamental to developing a distinctive approach to working with our customers. This approach is liked by our customers and it makes Cannon Hygiene a great place for people to work."

Cannon Hygiene provides hygiene solutions to many household names and thousands of SMEs across the length and breadth of the UK as well as having an excellent reputation in the public sector. In its 60th year the company shows continued ambition and the achievement of the Gold award reflects this.

IIP was founded in 1991 by the UK Government to ensure organisations were getting the best from their employees.

Established in 1955 by husband and wife team, Stanley and Alys Kennon, Cannon Hygiene employs 700 people in the UK alone where it operates 18 customer service centres, with a fleet of over 400 vehicles. It was acquired by the OCS Group in 1983 but remains a family business - now in its fifth generation.

The OCS Group delivers services in total facilities management across aviation, healthcare, pharmaceuticals and manufacturing.
