A new solution to ceiling cleaning and restoration

After 17 years of successful trading in the USA, Ceiling Pro International has come to the UK. Of course with the recent smoking ban it's a timely entry, as it's likely that pubs, clubs and restaurant owners will be considering refurbishment as they know that the budget and effort put into any work is likely to make a long-lasting difference.

Most ceilings in commercial environments, these days, are 'acoustical' ceilings. These ceilings are suspended and have absorbent properties, namely, sound. However, they also attract dirt, grime, kitchen grease and any other airborne particles which, over time, makes them unappealing to the eye.

These tiles can be tricky to clean as they don't lend themselves to scrubbing in the traditional way - often organisations will paint them, rather than clean them, believing this will be the easier and more cost-effective option - although this is not actually the case.

The CPI solution is generally a one stage spray mist process and you just leave the non-toxic solution to break down and 'carry away' the dirt and grime. Certain tiles, like vinyl, for example, will need two stages. The second stage only requires the wiping off of the solution since, as we all know, vinyl isn't porous.

No special skills are required to carry out the work and full training is provided by the 'parent' company, based in Minneapolis, US. A network of Master Dealers has been set up in the UK and is backed by a more established body of over 700 dealers across the Americas. The cleaning solution used can only be obtained by exclusive dealers and the recipe will only be known to those dealers.

"Nobody else can offer the same solution and the solution is mixed and tailored to the job in hand," says CP UK South West's Neil Maidment. "This puts the solution above its competitors, which can be too generalised."

Other treatments offered can include the cleaning of walls and floors and - should the customer require it - CPI can offer a sanitisation process too, including a treatment that combats the MRSA virus - datasheets are available upon request. Kitchen extractor hood cleaning is also becoming very popular with the CPI solution because it's non-labour intensive and the clean is completed much more quickly than the accepted scouring method.

Finally, for ceilings, if all else fails... the acoustic ceiling can be re-coated. This isn't a paint solution but a solution that retains the properties of the tile and doesn't make it stick to the suspension grid, like normal painting would.

For all grease and grime situations, CPI says it has the answers.
