Clean NZ proves a rewarding event for all parties

Alan Hardcastle, Publisher of the bi-monthly Australian Inclean magazine and the recently-launched Inclean New Zealand, (contact@incleanmag.com.au / www.incleanmag.com.au) gives his overview of Clean NZ, which took place on North Island earlier this month. Alan says that many show visitors had travelled from South Island for the event, which was a real success - particularly when one considers that NZ has a population of just four million.

Reflecting the unified scene that is the New Zealand cleaning industry, Clean NZ proved a rewarding exercise for all parties. Quality visitors, in healthy numbers estimated at 700-plus, were treated to a highly professional exhibition that was complemented with a popular seminar programme.

Held at the Ellerslie Convention Centre, Auckland, in early May, Clean NZ was a triumph for organiser Adrienne McDonald, the Building Service Contractors of NZ and the industry as a whole.

The Clean NZ industry dinner attracted nearly 400 industry executives - a staggering number - who were treated to a terrific night.

The investment by a wide range of suppliers and distributors in their stands was vital to the event's success, so too were the many sponsors that funded a raft of Clean NZ activities.

Stand and innovation award judges must have gone through real anguish; such were the riches on the exhibition floor. For the record, here are the results.

Best Small Stand:

Runners up - 3M and Solemate

Winner - Karcher

Best Large Stand:

Runners up - Waveline and Kimberly Clark Professional

Winner - Clark/Cleaning Systems Ltd

Most Innovative Product:

Runners up - Rotobic G Force and Safety Shoes

Winner: Tennant M20 scrubber/sweeper

Common themes emanating from the exhibition floor and seminar room were 'green cleaning' and energy saving; day cleaning; dealing with pandemics; and the cleaning industry's need to educate property managers on a wide range of issues.

Like all cleaning industry shows, Clean NZ did have an international flavour with many Australian executives attending as well as some execs from further afield including OCS CEO Chris Cracknell.
