CSSA
partners Kimberly-Clark in new Golden Service Awards
Kimberly-Clark Professional, founder and sponsor of the Golden Service Awards,
has joined forces with the Cleaning & Support Services Association, forming
a partnership to organise, manage and market the programme.
Now called The Kimberly-Clark Professional and CSSA Golden Service Awards, the
2007 programme is open for entry.
Andrew Large, Director General of the CSSA said: "I am delighted that we
and Kimberly-Clark Professional have joined forces. Cleaning contractors rightly
regard the Golden Service Awards as the most prestigious Awards in the cleaning
industry and I look forward to the 2007 programme."
Cleaning & Maintenance magazine, supporter of the programme since day one,
will continue to sponsor the Best Cleaned Premises by a Contract Cleaning Company
Award.
The British Cleaning Council and the British Institute of Cleaning Science, respective
sponsors for many years of the Site Supervisor of the Year and Industry Training
Award, will also continue to support the programme in this way.
Founded in 1991, the Golden Service Awards acknowledge and reward top quality
work by cleaning professionals working for contract cleaning and FM companies
and those working in-house.
There are some changes to the Award categories this year. New for 2007 is the
Health & Safety and/or Environmental Awareness Award.
David Lummis, Director of the British Safety Industry Federation said: "We
welcome the introduction of this new Award. The cleaning and FM professions are
regulated by an ever increasing number of laws and we must encourage good health
& safety practice. Congratulations to the Golden Service Awards. We wish your
new Award every success."
The Award categories are:

Public Sector Building, in Healthcare, a Retail Outlet, in Manufacturing, a Transport
Terminal and offices below 15,000 sq m.

by a Contract Cleaning Company for offices above 15,000 sq m.

Who can enter?
If you are a large, medium or small contract cleaning company or an in-house cleaning
team in education, the National Health Service or anywhere in the public sector;
this is your Awards programme and you should be part of it.
It doesn't matter if you are new to the profession or have a lifetime of cleaning
experience; you qualify to enter on an equal basis.
How are you judged?
The judges are independent and regularly changed. Whilst Kimberly-Clark started
this initiative and has always been patron, it believes that it should not judge
and therefore engages an outside organisation to appoint independent professionals.
Initial judging is based on the entry form submission. From this a number of finalists
are selected in each category. These are visited by a judge and only one is responsible
for each category so that all in that category are equally assessed.
Judging is carried out by an independent panel of experts from the cleaning profession
and sponsors are not permitted to judge. Each year a new judge is added to the
panel as one retires.
There is no proof of purchase required; there is no preferential treatment for
purchasers of the sponsors' products or for members of sponsoring organisations.
The organisers have taken a year out with the programme to bring it in line with
the Golden Service Awards in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Korea, Italy,
Belgium and Holland, to make the event bi-annual.
The 2007 Kimberly-Clark Professional and CSSA Golden Service Awards ceremony is
on November 2nd 2007 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
