Australian Cleaning Institute

We have Mail

Hi Jan,

Recently you ran an article about the Australian Cleaning Institute. The institute has become the voice of the cleaning industry in Australia and at this point it has all the established cleaning associations as members. Individual cleaners at this stage can't become members so I have started www.individualcleaner.org

I have attached a brief promo which the cleaning magazines in Australia will be running possibly in their next issues. Many Individual Cleaners don't receive these magazines but possibly receive your emag.

Any chance of putting the promo up on your emag so all cleaners in Australia have a fair chance of seeing it? (Click here for the open letter download)

The union claims that cleaners working on OCS employment contracts in Lambeth Town Hall get 12 days holiday a year plus Bank Holidays, while cleaners who transferred from Lambeth Council get 26 days plus Bank Holidays. It also claims that cleaners on OCS contracts are not entitled to any occupational sick pay and this is also different to the colleagues who transferred from Lambeth Council.

Dry cleaning system perfect for care home carpets

In the UK, over 410,000 elderly people live in some of the 15,700 private, voluntary and local authority care homes, being part of what is estimated to be a business valued at more than £8 billion per annum. And with growing numbers of elderly people living longer, it's a business that's likely to keep growing.

Nursing homes provide care to those whose condition requires regular nursing by, or under the supervision of, a qualified nurse, while enabling the person to be as independent as possible, maintaining their dignity and pride - but it's a demanding task to keep aspects of these homes such as carpets, clean and hygienic without causing disruption to residents.

Cleaning staff throughout the UK will know very well that maintaining the hygiene and standards necessary in these environments is hard work. To respect the dignity of a home's residents, the cleaning of unfortunate incidents must be kept discreet and tactful.
