Bank gets Xtreme over its cleaning

When Lloyds TSB wanted its South East Region high street banks cleaned, Project Xtreme Clean was launched, which was no mean task and a great challenge for its cleaning and support services company LCC.

In October 2007 LCC embarked on a large recruiting programme, employing some 60-plus experienced cleaners to join it on this project. They were then put through the company's normal intensive training programme so they were all capable of professionally cleaning and delivering a thorough Xtreme Clean to a single branch every night.

The work, apart from the routine dusting and vacuuming, involved total wall washing, specialised graffiti removal and high level maintenance. There was also thorough cleaning of carpets and upholstery incorporating stain removal.   All hard floors and surfaces were deep cleaned which included specialist stripping and polishing of floors.

Work only commenced after the branch closed for business.   The 14 LCC Xtreme Clean Teams, consisting of a supervisor and four operatives, then proceeded with their eight hour shift.   During this time the project management team consistently monitored cleaning standards and the wellbeing of all LCC staff.

The Xtreme Clean project took six months to complete and staff and customers alike noticed the difference.

John Wilson Operations Compliance Manager at LCC said: "This was a fine tuned and highly automated operation. To avoid disruption to our 'business as usual' regime we specifically employed a dedicated team to deliver Lloyds TSB high standards. We also provided all new equipment and hired special mini buses to carry all the equipment and whole teams around together. At times the deadlines were tough but a total team effort all round proved a great success, so much so that we finished the project nearly two weeks early."
