Kruger Tissue in the UK has been sold by its Canadian based parent to the owners of Northwood Paper Sales.
The deal was struck when it became clear that the UK based manufacturer and converter was no longer core to Kruger Inc’s long term strategy. Having considered a number of options, the synergy with the Northwood owners, headed by Paul Fecher, not only secured short term objectives, but provided an ideal springboard for the future growth of the company.
Renamed Connect Hygiene Products, the business will continue to be run by the existing management team from the North West. Offering continuity to existing customers and maintaining service levels that it says are amongst the highest in the industry, Connect will continue with its development of competitive added value tissue products that reflect the market’s growing awareness of better cost in use evaluation through the Da Vinci range. Similarly the company will continue to provide the 100% recycled Essentials range of tissues, well aware that environmental issues remain a major consideration, even in a recession.
“We are pleased to have been able to acquire Kruger’s operations in the UK which with hard work, investment and re-direction will grow to represent an even more important share of the UK market for Recycled Tissue and Hygiene Products," says Paul Fecher, major shareholder of the new company. "We look forward to working closely with the local management and the experienced work force and enhancing the businesses for the benefit of all of us.”
Chris Wickham, General Manager at Connect comment: “We have enjoyed a good relationship with Kruger over the last 20 years, but with a divergence in our respective objectives, we at Connect will now be better able to deliver quality economic tissue solutions through this new investment.
"Our stable, experienced and able management team is looking forward to taking the business on into the future.”
