Hotel's environmental management system brings in a booking from the EBAE judges

The implementation of an environmental management system, which has greatly reduced the amount of waste produced and increased the proportion that is recycled or reused, together with the installation of a system to capture and use surface water and closely manage water use for cleaning etc., has proved a winner for a UK hotel.

Stratton’s Hotel in Swaffham, Norfolk, is amongst the 11 UK winners in the heats for the European Business Awards for the Environment. These will now be pitched against winners from across the continent in competition for the EBAE awards.

The awards are presented in alternate years to companies that demonstrate their commitment to the environment by introducing pioneering and eco-innovative solutions into their businesses.
The European Jury will meet in Madrid in mid-March, after which shortlisted companies will be announced. Winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony to be held in Brussels during Green Week 2010, from 1st to 4th June.

Stratton's environmental management system means that just 1% of its waste is sent to landfill. The hotel restaurant sources all key ingredients ethically and environmentally, encourages travel without a car and minimises sound and light pollution on site.
