Vernacare continues to reinforce infection prevention in Scotland
Vernacare’s Tuffie cleaning and disinfecting wipes will continue to reinforce infection prevention in Scottish hospitals following a new framework agreement with NHS Scotland to supply the complete Tuffie range.
NHS Scotland will supply the new Tuffie 5 wipe, which is scientifically proven to eradicate swine flu, as well as Norovirus, C. Diff and MRSA. It is certified effective against all five major groups of pathogens (spores, bacteria, mycobacteria, yeasts and fungi and viruses). Vernacare will also continue to supply other wipes in the Tuffie range.

Tuffie 5 has been heralded as a major step forward in infection control due to its pathogen destroying properties. The pre-impregnated wet wipe cleans and disinfects all hard surfaces and equipment and avoids the need to use two separate wipes, or nurse time spent preparing chlorine disinfecting solutions. The wipe eradicates pathogens on initial impact, but industry tests show that its disinfecting properties continue to work after cleaning has taken place.
“Swine flu and Norovirus are particularly prevalent in the winter months so we are very pleased to be able to offer a simple and effective solution that staff can rely upon in their efforts to improve hospital hygiene,” adds Chris.
Results show the product is significantly safer and more effective than existing alcohol based products. All pathogens tested have been reduced by Log 4 or greater against BSEN standards, meaning 99.99% of bacteria, including C.Diff, have been destroyed.
The wipes are fragrance, chlorine and alcohol free, and are cosmetically approved to EU standards as skin safe.
