Leader

I've often argued in these Leaders that the cleaning industry's true worth will only be understood and acknowledged if all the cleaners go on strike, but I can see I need to change that to include the partial shutdown of the US Government. From what I've been reading, this has had a huge impact on the provision of cleaning services throughout the US which are under the Government's remit, such as the National Parks, where, I understand, rubbish is building up and toilets are becoming blocked. I just hope park users are doing their best to take their rubbish home with them and that they don't forget to carry their own supplies of toilet tissue and hand sanitisers...
In a little over two months' time The Cleaning Show opens in London's ExCel (March 19-21), and to add to the sparkle, new zones earmarked for the window and carpet cleaning sectors will be included for the first time in recognition of the massive contribution they make to the wider cleaning industry.
The Window Cleaning Village will be for anyone connected to commercial window cleaning and will give them the chance to try out the latest products, attend workshops and network with equipment providers. It will also be the location for a new twist on the window cleaning challenge with the launch of the Window Cleaning World Cup (see more below).
The Carpet Cleaning Village is designed for anyone connected to the carpet cleaning industry and carpet cleaning supply chain. Dave Wheadon from The National Carpet Cleaners Association, says: "It's fantastic that The Cleaning Show has recognised the significance of carpet cleaning within the wider cleaning industry," he says. "The Carpet Cleaning Village will be a space where we and our members can learn about the latest innovations and techniques as well as somewhere we can discuss the key challenges we all face as a sector. I would encourage anyone connected to carpet cleaning to register for the Show or consider exhibiting in the Village as it will help build the profile of professional carpet cleaning as a reliable, responsible and valuable service both commercially and domestically."
Another special area will be The Green Zone, a space offering advice and solutions to those looking to reduce their environmental impact and offer more sustainable services. A Resource Management area is also being developed which will focus on waste management and recycling. Learn more at www.thecleaningshow.co.uk
