Purple Dragon Sensory Creations recognised as SME Magazine's Best New UK Fragrance Compounding House
Purple Dragon Sensory Creations has been awarded ‘Best Nationwide Fragrance Compounding House’ in SME Magazine's Northern Enterprise Awards 2025.
The company – which only set up two years ago - supports industrial and household cleaning product manufacturers with fragrance solutions across a wide range of applications, including laundry & fabric care, surface & floor cleaners, disinfectant products and bathroom & hygiene solutions.
The company’s fragrance portfolio - from crisp citrus, like its best-selling wheelie bin fragrance 'Real Lemon Bin Fresh PDSC0359' and 'Juicy Orange PDSC0287'; antiseptic 'Black Fluid (Coal Tar) PDSC0324 - a firm favourite with the farming community, to comforting florals as well as modern, functional clean accords, all the products are developed with performance, stability and consumer appeal in mind. The manufacturer always works closely with clients to ensure that each scent not only smells great, but also performs beautifully in real-world formulations.

Based in Lancashire but with manufacturing capability in both the north and south of England, Purple Dragon is committed to operating strictly within the guidelines of ISO22716 - the internationally recognised quality standard for the cosmetic, fragrance and personal care industry.
Drawing from hundreds of years of combined experience in global fragrance creation (with particular emphasis on Europe, Middle East and Far East trends), global sourcing of raw materials and manufacturing excellence in the fragrance business, all the manufacturer’s creations are specifically designed to the customer’s brief to ensure compatibility with the base material, and are tested in the end application to ensure high performance and to meet all regulatory requirements.
“The UK Fragrance Industry has long been crying out for a small independent fragrance creator and manufacturer with very low overheads, prepared to actually develop new fragrances aligned to their customer’s needs,” adds Tony. “We prefer to create. It’s much easier!
“We can match but it’s very time consuming, utilising headspace GCMS (Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry) and other equipment and often identifies ingredients that didn’t need to be incorporated in the first place, which offer little or no significant impact or differentiation, and often identifies ingredients that ethically and compliantly should not have been used in the first place.
“We will replicate closely if that is what is required, which can depend on the end use and how discerning the end consumer is. This involves arriving at a very close , almost identical odour but often utilising some different raw materials which can also prove more cost-effective.
