Sustainability will be core theme of 19th WFBSC International Congress
'Water: its importance in sustainable cleaning' is the theme chosen for the 19th World Federation of Building Service Contractors International Congress, reiterating the environmental commitment of the maintenance and cleaning industry.
The event, which is to be held in Curitiba from 10th - 14th October, alongside the 22nd Regional Higiexpo - Hygiene, Cleaning & Maintenance Products & Services Exhibition, and the 23rd ENEAC - National Meeting of the Cleaning & Maintenance Companies, will assemble over 5,000 visitors.
The topic of sustainability will be approached in various ways throughout the conference. One will be presentations, such as that which will be delivered on 10th October by Stephen Ashkim - 'Green and sustainable: how can cleaning companies meet the demands of a changing world'; by James Marins - 'The socio-environmental paradigm of the 21st century and the tax law'; and by Markus Ach - 'Intelligent application in cleaning: how a sustainable attitude will increase productivity in this industry'.
Another congress activity related to this topic is the Diversey Sustainability Award, granted to companies that have applied sustainable innovations significantly and successfully.
The Fundação do Asseio e Conservação do Estado do Paraná (FACOP) will also contribute by opening a botanical garden symbolising the importance of implementing ecologically sound initiatives.
To Adonai Aires de Arruda, President of the WFBSC, sustainability is a theme to be taken seriously by the industry. "The judicious use of natural resources is crucial to decrease environmental impacts," he stresses. "Water is our main tool and cleaning and maintenance entrepreneurs are incumbent with implementing practices grounded on an environmentally correct conduct.
"We are working to reiterate our public commitment as companies seeking an ecologically correct, socially responsible and economically feasible performance."
