ACI presentations in Barcelona to focus on sustainability advancements, ecolabelling trends & surfactant safety

The American Cleaning Institute will share its expertise on sustainability advancements in the cleaning products industry, trends in North American ecolabelling, and the safety of fatty alcohol based surfactants at CESIO - the 9th World Surfactant Congress & Business Convention, which is being held next week from 10th - 12th June.

The event, held at the Centre Convencions Internacional Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain, is organised on behalf of the European Committee of Organic Surfactants and their Intermediates (CESIO), a sector group of Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council.

In addition to its presentations, ACI will co-host an exhibit booth with association colleagues from around the world as part of the International Network of Cleaning Product Associations (www.incpa.net).

"As chemical suppliers are a vital part of ACI's membership, we believe it's important to learn from and share scientific and technical knowledge with our counterparts from around the world," explains Richard Sedlak, ACI Executive Vice President, Technical & International Affairs. "The more we engage with chemical makers and suppliers internationally, the better we're able to serve our members throughout the cleaning product supply chain."

Richard is chairing a session at CESIO on June 11th, focusing on 'Sustainability Assessment & Standardization'. He is also presenting a technical poster on ACI's Cleaning Product Ingredient Safety Initiative.

Presenting on behalf of ACI on June 11thy at the conference are:

* Kathleen Stanton, ACI Director of Technical & Regulatory Affairs, who will discuss the challenges presented by the growth of some 'North American Ecolabelling' schemes.
* Melissa Bernardo, ACI Manager of Sustainability Programs, who will summarise ACI sustainability initiatives: 'Moving Forward: Sustainability and the US Cleaning Products Industry'.
* Dr. Stephen M. Mudge, Exponent, who will detail research showcasing surfactant safety: 'The risks to global water supplies from fatty alcohol based surfactants' (co-authored with Dr. Paul DeLeo, ACI Senior Director, Environmental Safety).

You can follow presentation summaries and updates from CESIO on the ACI Science Twitter feed, at www.twitter.com and via the hashtag #CESIO.
