CSSA Founder Member helps solve a Crisis over Christmas

* Crisis-at-Christmas1.jpgIn the last issue of Cleanzine we revealed that staff from one of the Founder Members of the Cleaning & Support Services Association, Julius Rutherfoord, would be supporting 'Crisis at Christmas' over the holidays.

It wasn't about donating cash or raising funds for the charity though, but about providing free cleaning for several of the charity's centres set up to give some warmth, cheer, a shower, a haircut, a change of clothes, a Christmas lunch and some specialist support for some of London's homeless.

* crisis2.jpgThe centres were open from 23rd to 30th December and thus required a lot of commitment from the volunteers involved.

We asked the team to email some pictures and let us know how they'd got on...

Stephen Cowley, contract manager said: "It was great to be able to support Crisis over the Christmas period by providing free cleaning and to give our support to those in need.

"The centres served meals to a large number of people across the week. Our work included deep cleaning the kitchens after the Christmas period, so that they could be handed back to the college and schools - which had provided their facilities as centres - in pristine condition.

"I was glad to be a part of such a worthwhile cause."

Ed: It's actions such as this that make me feel proud to be part of this industry. Well done to all involved - and to First Mile for looking after all the recycling...
