Bravo makes clean cruising for Condor

* condor_at_sunset.jpgCarrying more than one million passengers and 200,000 passenger vehicles annually, Poole-based Condor Ferries operates a year-round service connecting the UK, the Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey and the ports of St Malo and Cherbourg in France.

Mike Mustill, hotel services operations manager, Condor Ferries, called in Kevin Day at Prochem Europe distributor CJS Portsmouth to find a more robust, powerful and faster clean than they were currently achieving.

Condor Rapide, a fast ferry, serves the Guernsey to France route while Commodore Clipper, a conventional car, passenger and freight carrying vessel offers an all weather, year round service from the Channel Islands to Portsmouth. Condor Ferries also operates Commodore Goodwill, as a freight-only vessel on the same route.

The fleet carries 100,000 freight vehicles into the Channel Islands each year as well as exporting tonnes of local produce.

The latest addition to the fleet is a £50m state of-the-art high-speed 102m trimaran Condor Liberation, which serves the Channel Islands to UK route and was introduced in March this year - the first of her kind in Northern Europe.

Passengers enjoy high levels of service offered by a range of leisure facilities on board the fleet with comfortable, guaranteed pre-assigned seating, a choice of dining areas, Kids Zone entertainment, Duty Free shops and more.

Cleaning these environments presents inevitable challenges and a regime of regular maintenance, when in port, is supported by the need for tackling all manner of spills.

After looking at four different extractors, Mike chose the Bravo Spotter portable carpet and upholstery spot cleaning machine.

Its compact size and manoeuverability, made the Bravo Spotter ideal for spotting and quick cleaning of small carpeted areas and upholstery. The lightweight unit comes complete with a hose assembly and dual purpose hand and upholstery tool.

The machine has no set-up time and with its specially-designed moulded-in holders to carry spray bottles, crew and other users are left hands-free to get on with the job.

"These machines have been at work on the ships now since July and the overall impression of them here is very positive," says Mike.

"They have proved easy-to-use and they clean efficiently and quickly. Space is at a premium at sea and these compact units are small enough to be kept out-of-sight in ships' lockers for when they are needed.

"All round, the Bravos are living up to their names."
