Cordant Cleaning doubles work with Metroline

* Metroline-buses.jpgLondon bus company, Metroline, has extended its contract with Cordant Cleaning and more than doubled the scope to include an additional six locations, making a total of nine within North West and West London.

The new contract is worth more than £3.5 million and this is the third time the contract has been renewed since it started in 2007.

Under the terms of the deal, Cordant Cleaning will be responsible for the cleaning, shunting and parking of over 750 buses every day, in addition to cleaning the nine bus garages, administration buildings and engineering premises. Additional responsibilities include re-fuelling, checking oil and fluid levels, and allocating each bus to its route number.

A team of over 150 full time staff work on the contract, all of whom are directly employed by Cordant Cleaning providing a 24/7 service, with the majority working a 19:00 - 03:00 shift. These include a number of fully qualified shunters - some with Passenger Carrying Vehicles licenses. In many cases the buses operate 20 hours a day so each receives a daily standard clean alongside a schedule of periodic deep cleans to ensure they meet with the high level specification.

"Every day we strive to meet our passengers' expectations and a key part of this is through the provision of a clean and presentable vehicle," explains Chris Healey, vehicle presentation manager at Metroline. "This means that our choice of cleaning partner is extremely important and we have enjoyed a long and successful working relationship with Cordant Cleaning. This new contract is testament to the high standards they have consistently delivered and is well deserved."

Guy Pakenham, managing director at Cordant Cleaning, says: "We now look after more than half of London's buses and have the knowledge and expertise to meet the challenges of these complex operations. Our ability to self deliver our solutions combined with our proven processes mean that we offer a truly compelling service for the transport industry."
