Taxi drivers need toilets too

* TaxiTree.jpgThe latest issue of Truckers Toilets' UK discusses an article in the Fourways Review, which reveals that the City of Johannesburg is partner to a scheme that includes property stakeholders and communities, aimed at providing 2,000 public toilets for mobile workers.

These facilities are headlined to include - and benefit - taxi ranks. TTUK notes that Taxi drivers are another mobile sector whose members, due to the nature of their work, find it very difficult to access toilets - thanks to both public toilet closures and a lack of parking.

"Many councillors, MPs and Government officials in the UK use taxis, but it doesn't seem to register that the drivers need loos during their working hours," says the publication's Gill Kemp.

Ed: We talked about toilet cubicle users being a 'captive audience' in last week's Cleanzine. Perhaps it's time our taxi drivers took advantage of the fact that they have a captive audience in their cars by bending the ears of any councillors, MPs and Government officials they have the pleasure to chauffer, about the need for more public toilets!
