An award-winning team at Julius Rutherfoord

* Award-team-Rutherfoord.jpgBattersea-based Julius Rutherfoord had a successful evening at the Wandsworth Business Awards in December, taking home the Training & Development award, as well as being Highly Commended in the Best Customer Service and Best Green Business categories.

Winning the Training & Development award is a reflection of the company's dedicated approach to helping careers grow. Free staff training programmes begin with induction training at the company's Training Academy. Training is delivered through the British Institute of Cleaning Science and is offered in multiple languages as well as through an App, which contains a library of training resources.

The contractor also performs monthly training for cleaning operatives through on-site 'tool-box' talks, to ensure staff are kept abreast of new techniques and practices. At the same time, it has a formal supervisor training scheme, which has seen 157 members of staff pass through this year. The company is also supporting eight area managers undertaking NVQs in management.

Apprenticeship programmes are also very important to the contractor, which has had apprentices in the marketing and finance departments who completed their programmes and became highly valued permanent members of staff. Day-to-day, Julius Rutherfoord recognises the immense value of training and developing staff across every level of the business. The company provides a clear Career Pathway to Success Programme to help staff map out aspirations - an approach which has improved staff retention and heightened engagement.

"We are delighted that our hard-working team has been recognised in the Wandsworth Business Awards," says sales and marketing director Marcus Heap. "Winning the Training & Development Award further boosts our confidence in our dedicated approach to ongoing training - we believe in what we do and we are proud of the results.

"We were also Highly Commended in the Best Customer Service category. Our customer service team is our entire company - every single person working here can provide feedback, from cleaning operatives to office staff, departmental heads and directors, and it is an honour to be recognised in this way.

"At the same time, we are passionate about being an environmentally friendly business, so to have been highly commended in the Best Green Business category as well is a fantastic reflection of our sustainable business model.

"Julius Rutherfoord will be proudly displaying its new awards at its Battersea home, and want to say a big thank you to our enthusiastic and committed team. Keep up the brilliant work and fresh thinking in cleaning."
