The right side of the law

* The-right-side.jpgJust over a year on from being appointed to provide cleaning and security services to the University of Law's (UOL) Leeds centre, Regent Samsic has expanded its contract to now provide a total FM service to the University's entire estate.

Today, Regent Samsic operations service UOL sites in Leeds, Manchester, Chester, Bristol, London (Bloomsbury and Moorgate), Birmingham and Guildford.

Tracing origins back to 1876, the UOL is the UK's longest-established specialist provider of legal education and lays claim to having trained more lawyers than any other provider.

The University's relationship with Regent Samsic has grown out of mutual regard and trust.

"When we started at the Leeds centre back in 2014 through FM provider EIC, the objective was if the model proved successful in Leeds, we would have the opportunity to quote for the whole estate," says Regent Samsic head of operations, Ian Leeding.

Following the successful delivery at Leeds, Regent Samsic won the national business for the university, commencing in June 2016 with EIC providing hard FM services to the sites.

When EIC suddenly ceased trading, Regent Samsic moved fast to maintain site services, engaging the former EIC account manager to bring relevant supply chain and relationships before requesting for the opportunity to now also provide the hard services delivery element of the contract to UOL.

"We were very pleased to be afforded that opportunity and subsequently mobilised and set up the additional business, investing in a computer-aided facilities management system to support the hard services streams," continues Ian.

Today Regent Samsic provides UOL centres all requisite hard and soft services (excluding catering) as a TFM contract spanning daily and periodic cleaning, pest control, waste management, consumables, hygiene, vertical cleaning, full hard service provision, project works and helpdesk concierge.

The company provides manned guarding to Leeds, Bloomsbury, Mooregate, Bristol, Birmingham and Chester with alarm response to the remainder of the estate.

When Regent Samsic added Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) hard maintenance services to its portfolio in the autumn, the facility was duly added to the service programmes provided to the UOL also.

Ian summarises: "Our work with the UOL encapsulates how a business relationship can be grown in the best interests of both parties on the back of getting a job done well and being ready, willing and able to take on new roles and duties when asked.

"I'm delighted to say that UOL is very happy with our work across all service streams and that we are tendering for new TFM contracts on the basis of what we've achieved with the University."
