Anti-fatigue mats promote employee wellbeing

* Anti-fatigue-mats.jpgUsing a standing desk over a conventional workstation with desk, chair and computer screen can have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of employees, but standing on hard floors can cause problems all of their own.

Ergonomic standing desk mats from Mats4U can help your team to burn more calories during the day while still being comfortable at work.

With more careers requiring employees to work for seven hours or more at a time, behind a computer or laptop, Mats4U is helping to support innovative office design, by offering a range of office mats to improve employee wellbeing.

Similar to the exciting steps that Google has taken to make its offices as employee-friendly as possible with aesthetically pleasing working environments and in-house massage rooms, Mats4U supplies anti-fatigue mats to encourage more people to stand up and move around while working a 9-to-5 job.

According to the NHS, sitting for long periods is directly linked to obesity, type 2 diabetes, some forms of cancer and even early death. Recent studies have shown that sitting for several hours a day can slow the metabolism which affects the body's ability to regulate blood pressure, blood sugar and break down body fat. Unfortunately, many adults spend more than seven hours a day sitting or lying down and this involves working in an office environment and commuting to work.

According to data from the UK Labour Market, 1.01 billion hours were worked during October to December 2015 by UK employees alone and when we take into consideration the amount of office based roles that this would have included, the amount of time employees spend sitting in a stationary position behind a desk is staggering.

Rather than have your team sit in a stationary position for the majority of the working day, Mats4U has designed an alternative to promote employee wellbeing. Anti-fatigue mats offer a cushioned high-quality surface underfoot for employees who prefer to work from a standing desk rather than sit for several hours at a time.

Standing for three additional hours each day over the course of a year can burn up to 30,000 extra calories which equates to eight pounds of fat. To put things into perspective further, to burn this number of calories, you would need to run just over nine marathons a year. (3)
