Cleanzine - the original Cleaning & Hygiene industry e-news

Read by industry professionals in 163 countries worldwide!

My daughter served up a large nut roast last Wednesday evening and not wanting to lie down in bed too soon after eating, or strain my eyes trying to read a book in bed by lamplight, I did what many of us do and sat up with my laptop, clicking through a multitude of websites to read things that caught my eye on the previous website I'd visited. A bit of a 'magical mystery tour' if you like - some of it interesting, some inspirational and some making me think: "Well that's 10 minutes of my life I'm not going to get back".

Keeping an eye on the local election results I looked at various news sites to see the slant each publication/broadcaster was putting on the incoming declarations (it's incredible how the same news can look so different, depending upon the writer's political bias!) and ended up scanning down the other news to see what was going on in the world.

One headline that caught my eye covered the sacking of three refuse workers who'd been caught on CCTV mixing up residents' carefully sorted recycling. I clicked through to the story and was met with a banner ad showing a range of waste & recycling bins by Binopolis, sitting above the story.

I didn't read the rest of the article as I was too busy focusing on the inspired thinking behind the ad. I have to take my hat off to those who decided to use the bad news to show off its company's or client's great collection of bins. Brilliant! That's one brand I won't forget in a hurry!

Back in 2002, Cleanzine was the first e-zine launched into the UK's cleaning sector and our early advertisers showed some of that inspired thinking, supporting a new medium when the Internet was still in its infancy. Brightwell Dispensers, which celebrated its 70th birthday last year, has been with us continually since day one and like us, it's well-known in a lot more countries than it was back then. If you'd like to know just what we can offer for even a small outlay, do get in touch with John Austen to find out more - but not next week please, as we'll be at the Interclean exhibition in Amsterdam. I'm told that all 13 halls at the RAi have been filled with exhibitors for our industry's most eagerly-awaited event. What an achievement!
