Unger floor cleaning system in comparative test
Unger Europe tells us that its new erGO! was one of a number of floor cleaning systems put to the test by the Institute of Work Sciences & Ergonomics at the University of Siegen, Germany.
The study, led by Prof. Dr. Ing. Karsten Kluth, involved the ergonomic evaluation of floor cleaning systems to determine what - if any - stresses and strains were caused to cleaning personnel, through the various cleaning systems' different designs.
While the report is still being evaluated, early results are positive, highlighting that improved ergonomics of a floor cleaning system have significant positive effects on users' work efficiency.
The investigation was carried out following recommendations by the Employers' Liability Insurance Association that contract cleaners should use ergonomically-designed equipment. The aim is to provide solutions to the industry to avoid physical injuries to staff and consequent downtime, due to excessive physical strain from cleaning routines.
The new erGO! cleaning system with S-shaped telescopic handle and detachable bottle is designed to reduce the need for cleaners to bend and to carry heavy buckets, as well as to eliminate the lengthy preparation times experienced with some traditional manual floor cleaning systems, facilitating the speedy clean-up of spillages.
