JD Wetherspoon awarded overall Loo of the Year Awards trophy

* JD-Wetherspoon-LOTY.jpgJD Wetherspoon is the only entrant to have been awarded the overall Loo of the Year Awards Trophy for the third time in the Awards program's 31-year history.

Wetherspoon is known for converting unconventional yet attractive premises into pubs which are individually designed. Part of this design is the provision of washrooms that are spacious and meet the needs of all types of users and the organisation was the UK's first pub chain to introduce Changing Places toilets.

Wetherspoon gained Platinum Award grade for 90% of its entries, nine national awards and was also awarded Corporate Provider and Space to Change UK trophies.

Awards managing director, Mike Bone says: "JD Wetherspoon provides many exceptional toilets which set the standard for the pub sector. The company has entered Loo of the Year Awards for several years and won many awards. Chairman Tim Martin is passionate about providing excellent toilets and many Wetherspoon pubs are assessed each year as part of entry into Loo of the Year Awards."

Virginia Santos, a cleaner for the City of London's major visitor attractions, was awarded the Washroom Cleaner of the Year Award, Individual Cleaner National award for England and the overall UK Trophy. Virginia has provided an excellent service to Central London visitors for the past six years.

Paultons Park was presented with the In-House Cleaning Team Trophy and Danfo (UK) gained the External Contractor Team Trophy.

The winners were selected from entries in 61 entry categories across all market sectors.

Guests from throughout the UK, including representatives from leading cleaning and FM companies, attended the special Awards presentation event at the four-star St Johns Hotel Solihull. Leading comedian Hal Cruttenden provided comedy as the after-lunch entertainment and guests enjoyed the unrivalled networking opportunities during the supplier exhibition that forms part of the annual event.

The 2018 Awards were run in association with Associate Sponsors Clos-o-Mat, Dolphin Solutions, and Dyson Airblade wash+dry. Leading suppliers; Cleen, Danfo and P Wave also supported this year's Awards.

Full details of the 2018 Awards results are available on the Awards website.
