Clearly 'a job for life'... 81-year-old celebrates 67 years in window cleaning!

* job-for-life.jpgDave Denton, who has been cleaning the windows of Bedford businesses since he started assisting his father at 14, has just been honoured at a surprise 81st birthday party attended by some of the 30 businesses he has been servicing for the past 67 years.

The Bedford Independent reports that despite his age, Dave still works seven days a week and is with his first customer by 06:00.

He cleans windows for many of the independent Bedford businesses in town including the Third place, whose owner Jessica Wolton organised the surprise.

"You wouldn't think he was 81 years old," she says. "He's so energetic. Everyone has nothing but great things to say about him.

"I remember him as a teenager going around cleaning windows. I feel privileged now to have him as my own window cleaner."

Dave was presented with a cake made by another client, Seventh Heaven, topped with a sugarcraft model of himself and the shield of his favourite football team, Manchester United.

"I ain't used to this sort of thing. It's very kind of them," Dave is reported to have said. He also shared plans to continue working until he turns 90...
