From green to pink in aid of charity

* BIO-PRODUCTIONS-PINK.jpgA company with green credentials has changed its colour for the month of October, with a special emphasis last Friday as staff at Bio Productions arrived for work clad from tip to toe in pink to mark breast cancer awareness.

From the production team to the board room, workers at the Victoria Road firm threw themselves behind the cause and raised more than £100 from their efforts.

Even those working away from the headquarters weren't going to miss out:

"Nettie from the sales team was in Florida but still clad herself in pink and sent over images to prove it, as did colleague Lyn who is on the road but sporting her pink bra," explains managing director Angela Gill. "And our company pets weren't going to be outdone either, with springer spaniel Miah and Delphi the pug joining in above the strapline 'remember to get your puppies checked'.

"Even employees on a day-off didn't want to miss the fun, with maintenance manager Harry sending a photo of him modelling a becoming pink frock. 'It looked great against his hairy beard', remarked a colleague."

This year the event has even greater momentum as Breast Cancer * Bio-Prod-Nettie_142.jpgNow joined forces with Breast Cancer Care to make it the biggest and best Wear Pink Day so far. Every Breast Cancer Awareness Month, wear it pink brings together thousands of people on one day, all with the same aim - to wear pink, raise money and help make life-saving breast cancer research happen.

* Bio-Dogs_142.jpgStaff at the busy cleaning chemicals manufacturer indulged in a variety of delicious home-made cakes, all in the name of charity. "Sara Gibb created mouth-watering cup cakes and cookies, with colleague Becky in the accounts department making a moreishchocolate gateaux," adds Angela.

Finance director Avonia Bridge judged the entries and awarded certificates to all who had paid the £1 to enter, as well as awarding a Duvet Day to staff who took part, giving them an extra day's annual holiday.

"I am immensely proud of everyone for embracing the occasion," says Angela. "As well as having a really enjoyable day, we've helped to raise much-needed funds for a really worthwhile cause and one close to the hearts of many here at Bio-Productions as it is worldwide."
