New waste & recycling webinar series starts soon

* waste-webinar.jpgThis November, WRAP is kicking off a second webinar series for local authorities, designed to help make waste and recycling collections more efficient. They will cover the plastics recycling landscape in the UK; training for crews and communications.

Webinars will range from bite-size 20 minute sessions, to more in-depth, one hour-long discussions.

Tuesday 5th November: 15:00 - 16:00 - The Plastics Economy:
WRAP has just released the Plastics Market Situation report, providing an update on the latest economic, market and regulatory trends affecting the capture and recycling of plastics. Join WRAP economist Peter Sainsbury, in a discussion on key developments in the sector, specifically looking at how the amount of packaging produced and the closing of overseas export markets, could impact local authorities. WRAP will be looking at plastics, paper, textiles, metal cans, and relevant gate fees.

Tuesday 26th November: 12.30 - 13:00 - Navigating the Resource Library:
The WRAP Resource Library hosts all of the organisation's best resources from Recycle Now, Love Food Hate Waste, and Love your Clothes. It's a one-stop-shop for engaging citizens in action in your local area. However, it can be tricky to navigate and WRAP wants to make sure you can find what you are looking for, when you need it.

Monday 9th December: 12:00 - 13:00 - Train the trainer: helping crews act on contamination:
This webinar will help collection crews understand the problems caused by contamination in dry recycling. WRAP will run through its practical and interactive training sessions, which you can adapt to your own collection system and procedures on dealing with contaminated containers. The training has been designed to change thinking and crew behaviours and has grown from WRAP's successful historic crew programme.

It can be adapted to run as one long, two shorter, or three snappy training sessions. WRAP recommends that its training is used in tandem with effective supervision and encouragement of crews, to ensure their action on contamination sticks.

This session will be ideal for collection contract managers, operations managers and anyone whose role includes influencing good practice collections and WRAP will share check lists to take to your training sessions, useful resources and template slide decks during the webinar.

Tuesday 17th December: 12:00 - 12.30 - Editing WRAP communications materials:
Join WRAP's brand and design manager, Tom Simpson, in a simple walk-through of how to edit and adapt WRAP communications materials, using Adobe InDesign. Tom will be using the organisation's newly created contamination materials as an example, demonstrating how they can be edited and tailored to support your local authority. Make sure you share this webinar with your communications teams!

All the webinars will be recorded and available on WRAP's website afterwards.
