OspreyDeepclean’s Steam & Vac Pro passes important test with enveloped viruses
OspreyDeepclean has now received the Expert Opinion from the Institut fuer Hygiene & Mikrobiologie (Institute for Hygiene & Microbiology) in Bremen, Germany, that the Steam & Vac Pro model achieves a greater than 5-log reduction against modified Ankara, based on EN 16615.
In Europe, the modified vaccinia Ankara (MVA) represents the official surrogate test virus for all enveloped viruses including Sars-Cov-1 and Sars-Cov-2 and all human influenza viruses.
The steam cleaner S&V Pro was examined with two passing processes at a speed of 20cm/second at room temperature and under dirty conditions with a standard 10 min. incubation time.
OspreyDeepclean’s chairman Thomas Stuecken, says that this is another important step in combatting the spread of Covid-19 and that new normal cleaning regimes should focus on adopting proven, validated cleaning technologies and treat any environment like a healthcare setting.
“It is clearly evident also, from consumer research, that a ‘visual clean’ is no longer acceptable to consumers and visitors and that the highest standard of cleaning and disinfection should be the new norm,” he adds. “The cleaning industry plays a critical role in the fight against Covid-19, and we should do everything possible to assist consumers, companies and industry as a whole to now adopt to the best validated cleaning technologies.”
The latest Expert Opinion underlines the groundbreaking research the company embarked upon some 10 years ago with its TNO/UCLH study for validating the efficacy of dry steam for the safe removal of harmful pathogens from the hospital environment.
