Looking after the cleaners - as a matter of Principle
21st October was Thank your Cleaner Day - and those making up the management team at Principle Cleaning Services really went out of their way to let the 2,200-plus members of the cleaning team, know how valued they are.
All the cleaners were given shopping vouchers and chairman Douglas Cooke, the directors and the senior management team, spent the day individually visiting as many of the cleaning teams as possible, to personally deliver a heartfelt 'thank you'.
"We'd like to say a huge thank you to all of our dedicated cleaning staff who always go above and beyond, especially during these challenging times. You really are essential frontline staff keeping us safe and healthy," Doug and his senior team told them.
"We and our clients are very grateful and appreciate all the hard work and the excellent job that you do on a daily basis helping to keep workplaces clean."
Doug thinks as we do - that we should really be thanking our cleaners every day.
"I was so impressed at just how happy our staff were to know that we were thinking of them and despite the facemasks I could see everyone was smiling,” Doug told us. “A number of our clients went out of their way to provide refreshments for the cleaning teams and some even matched the value of the vouchers.
"Our people at Principle Cleaning Services are our greatest asset. We treat them with respect, focus firmly on their development and provide industry-leading training and career progression throughout our organisation.
"We aim to be the cleaning sector's employer of choice. We select the best people and give them the best training, equipment and knowledge to perform an excellent job. We want our employees to have a career in cleaning and most of our senior team have progressed through the ranks.
"We provide our staff with a route to progress in the industry with the highest levels of training, formal qualifications and opportunities. We have an excellent level of employee retention and offer enhanced benefits and rewards."
Established in 1989, Principle Cleaning Services looks after such well-known landmarks as The Shard, 20 Fenchurch Street, 30 St Mary Axe and Lloyds of London.
