HSS Outsource: time/money-saving solution for cleaning and FM contractors

HSS, the national supplier of tool and equipment hire and related services, is launching HSS Outsource, an innovative new service that offers a long-term equipment hire solution and promises to help facilities managers save time and money when it comes to equipment management. The proposition launches first in the troubled cleaning equipment sector going to the heart of FM's everyday problems.

A recent survey, sponsored by the company and in association with the Facilities Management Association, highlighted the excessive amount of time that facilities managers 'waste' tackling equipment related issues. The survey found that up to a day each week is spent dealing with the management of equipment and that more than one in five of their own service related issues are caused by equipment problems. It also found that 30% of facilities managers worry about prosecution for equipment non-compliance.

HSS Hire's Sales & Marketing Director, Fiona Perrin said: "We listened carefully to what cleaning service providers and FM companies needed in order to compete more effectively and we created our HSS Outsource service to offer the resources and support to help resolve those issues".

HSS Outsource is a long-term asset management and equipment hire solution that offers an insightful new way to supply, maintain and manage equipment. It meets the customer's equipment management needs on a permanent basis, promoting 'usership' rather than 'ownership', optimising flexibility and giving customers all the benefits of ownership without any of the hassles.

With HSS Outsource, customers have easy access to a massive 'virtual fleet' of kit, helping them to move away from 'fixed size' resource infrastructures to more flexible 'on demand' solutions that can be scaled up or down in response to requirements. As new contracts mobilise, HSS Outsource provides the equipment; as they demobilise there is no longer obsolete stock - all kit returns to HSS with customers ONLY paying for what is in use.

Under the HSS Outsource plan, when equipment is due for service or maintenance or if it breaks down, HSS simply swaps-out the equipment removing any downtime issues meeting demanding SLAs via its national network.

From a financial perspective, not only will customers only pay for what they're using and avoid the costs associated with lack of productivity but the move from fixed to variable costs will also remove many of the costs associated with equipment ownership including capital expenditure demands, maintenance, depreciation and write-off.

HSS Outsource will be supported by Reintec, a new, environmentally and operator-friendly range of what the organisation says it "best in class" cleaning equipment sourced and enhanced in Western Europe and the US and available exclusively in the UK via HSS Outsource. Alongside the range is a full consumables offer with HSS Outsource recommending Lime Supply.

As part of the transition from equipment ownership to usership, HSS also helps contractors make the transition from owned to outsourced - helping to maintain and dispose of existing equipment with potential revenue upside.

The online Outsource asset register means all equipment can be identified by site and service dates as well as hired, de-mobilised and managed in real-time and at the touch of a button - making equipment management quicker, easier and predominantly paperless.

"Gone are the days of being tied to expensive kit as margins are put under pressure - HSS Outsource means our customers will always have exactly what they need, wherever and whenever they need it and without having to worry about carrying the costs of equipment standing idle, not in test or not performing," says Fiona Perrin. And of course, HSS Outsource removes the worry of non-compliance. The service takes responsibility for all equipment related Health & Safety, technical and PAT (portable appliance testing) obligations and all equipment is tested, serviced and maintained by HSS experts ensuring that it is always safe, compliant and ready to use. HSS Outsource also provides visual operating instructions and user and manager training.
