Germinator mobile sanitising & disinfecting adds ATP monitoring to its service offerings
The Germinator mobile sanitising & disinfecting system now comes with the option of adenosine triphosphate monitoring as part of a now patent-pending methodology.
ATP monitoring allows Germinator to test surfaces for the potential presence of living microorganisms in as little as 15 seconds prior to sanitising and disinfecting.
ATP is an energy molecule found in all living organisms —including bacteria, mould and other potentially harmful microorganisms. When activated, ATP gives off a bright bioluminescent light, which is measured in relative light units (RLU).
Upon entering a premises, Germinator will take samples from surfaces using swabs, which are then inserted into a luminometer. The luminometer gives a rapid and accurate reading of ATP on a surface. The higher the light output, the greater the indication of the need for proper cleaning.
Germinator will offer ATP monitoring before and after its sanitising and disinfecting process. Once the initial ATP test has been completed, Germinator applies its Genesis surface treatment.
Genesis is a one-step cleaner and broad-spectrum sanitiser and disinfectant treatment that harnesses the power of hypochlorous acid. Derived from naturally occurring minerals, Genesis not only eliminates odours at their source, but kills a wide range of bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, Salmonella enterica and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and viruses including norovirus, rotavirus and adenovirus on hard, non-porous, environmental surfaces. It meets the Association of Official Agricultural Chemists germicidal spray standards for Hospital Grade Disinfection and is on the EPA N List of products determined to meet the criteria for use against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. As a result, this treatment will eliminate bacteria and viruses that may reside in an environment without the use of harsh chemicals or fumes.
Once Genesis has been applied, Germinator applies its Shield, a water-based quaternary ammonium compound that imparts a durable bacteriostatic finish. It is US Environmental Protection Agency-registered as effective against mould, mildew, algae and odour-causing bacteria. This application creates an invisible barrier that combats deterioration and discoloration and promotes freshness for up to three months.
The Genesis and Shield products are applied by using an electrostatic sprayer, which is the most efficient and effective means of delivering the products to the intended application sites. After Germinator’s surface treatment and protectant services are applied, the company’s field specialists retest ATP levels to ensure the surfaces have achieved the intended results.
“We are excited to implement the ATP monitoring technology into our process,” says Jeff Gill, CEO of Germinator. “Our mission is to serve as long-term partners for our customers to help them live protected. We plan to be there every step of the way to ensure that we properly sanitise and disinfect areas of concern and measure the effectiveness of our work after a job is complete.”
