Bio trunking makes a meal out of food factory bugs
Strict hygiene control is a top priority in food preparation environments, making a new antimicrobial cable management system that is effective against E-Coli and Salmonella a perfect solution for assisting in ensuring the ultimate level of cleanliness is maintained at all times.
Bio Trunking Solutions, from British manufacturer Marshall-Tufflex, utilises silver ion technology incorporated into the PVC-U trunking product to tackle E-Coli, Salmonella, MRSA, Klebsiella Pneumonia and a host of other bacterial nasties. Bio is effective against 99.9% of bugs, preventing them from reproducing and therefore minimising the risk of cross-contamination.
"The system has already proved highly successful in hospitals and other healthcare environments, where it provides an additional defence against hospital acquired infections when used in conjunction with meticulous cleaning and personal hygiene routines," explains Marshall-Tufflex product manager Chris Scott.
"We believe it could prove an invaluable addition to the hygiene regimes in food and drink production environments. It works silently behind the scenes 24 hours a day for the lifetime of the trunking and, because the silver ion ingredient is mixed into the PVC-U during manufacture, rather than applied as a surface coating, it continues to work even if the trunking is scratched or damaged."
Bio Trunking Solutions is pertinent where power and data supplies are surface mounted. The system is available in a number of profiles, from the unique and aesthetically pleasing all-curved Odyssey to the more traditional profiles associated with cable management. All are compatible with Marshall-Tufflex's MT32 Power Connection System, a fuss-free click-together method for running power from a distribution board to the furthest point of a circuit.
Bio Trunking Solutions has been tested to ISO 22196:2007 and is proven to exhibit reductions in bacterial viable counts by more than 99.9%.
