BICSc Northern Ireland celebrates best cleaners

* Northern-Ireland-Operative-of-the-Year.jpgThe BICSc Northern Ireland Cleaning Operative of the Year Awards took place in Belfast City Hall recently - the first event held in the City Hall's Great Hall since Covid-19 locked it down.

"It was an extremely successful event with all of the attendees socially distanced and seated," explains the Institute's NI nation chairman, Colm McGrath.

"There was a lot of nervous energy in the Great Hall, which was looking fantastic with the iconic surroundings. The tables were set up immaculately and refreshments served to the table by Phil and his team from Café Nosh."

The ceremony was opened by Rt Hon Councillor Kate Nicholl and hosted by Brenda Shannon of Diversey.

Says Colm: "Special thanks to Mervyn Perry, FBICSc, who works tirelessly from one year to the next in making this event happen."

Celebrating being declared the best of the best, were:

* Alastair McAlister, Edmund Rice College, Glengormley - Overall Winner
* Marion Brown, Aramark - Office category winner
* Timothea McKillen, Robinson Services - Retail category winner
* Alastair McAlister, Edmund Rice College - Education Winner
* Ian Barnard, Aramark - Leisure & Hospitality
* Roisin Irvine, Mount Charles - Healthcare
* Karen McKenzie, Mitie - Manufacturing
* Amy Peachey, Aramark - Supervisor Recognition
