Another chapter opens for Atlas at the British Library

* British-Library.jpgAtlas has been re-appointed to deliver cleaning & support services for the iconic British Library whose collection of over 170 million items includes artefacts from every age of written civilisation, with around three million new items added every year.

The contract will see the company continuing to deliver services to the public site in St Pancras, London and the collection site in Boston Spa, Yorkshire ensuring they are clean, safe and operational. The award follows a highly competitive tender process, and the appointment was made through Crown Commercial Services.

"We are delighted to continue our relationship with a world-leading institution," says Atlas group managing director, Chris Wisely.

"We highly value the long-term partnership we have developed with the team at the British Library, and we are particularly proud of our people who help keep it clean, safe and well-cared for on a daily basis."

Founded almost 40 years ago, Atlas has grown from being a small local business to a nationwide facilities & support services company. It prides itself on having a great culture and values, characterised by a family feel and passionate people. It offers the full suite of facilities management services to its clients and employs 10,000 people at over 6,000 sites, working with many of Britain's best-known brands.

Although The British Library's roots extend back centuries, the facility aims to collect everything published in the UK today, tomorrow and far into the future.
Along with millions of books, and much more besides, its London and Yorkshire sites hold collections ranging from newspapers and maps to sound recordings, patents and academic journals, as well as a copy of every UK domain website and blog. Its public spaces are a place to research, to meet friends, to start up a new business or simply to get inspired by visiting its galleries and events.
