CMS Berlin makes a strong comeback

* CMS-Berlin.jpgAbout to take place for the 11th time (from 19th to 22nd September) after a four-year break, CMS 2023, the Berlin-held trade fair for the cleaning & hygiene sector, is as strong as ever, with bookings back to pre-Covid levels.

"We are very satisfied with the current booking levels and have already reached 80% of the record volume achieved in 2019,” notes Ruth Senitz, director of CMS Berlin. “That is remarkable, as it is the first in-person CMS since the pandemic.

“In 2019, around 450 exhibitors from 25 countries, the highest number to date, displayed their products and services on an area of more than 31,000sq.m in the halls and on the outdoor display site.

“Currently, exhibitors from 23 countries are represented. The foreign companies taking part are mostly European neighbours, including Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Poland. Those from non-EU countries are mainly from China, the UK and Turkey. International participation among the approximately 90 first-time exhibitors is at over 50%.”

CMS 2023 covers the entire market for commercial cleaning technology including products, systems and methods as well as personal protective equipment (PPE). The segments Devices and Cleaning Systems, Management and Software, Outdoor Installations, Workwear and Safety have reported growth. Exhibitors offering services have increased significantly.

At this year's CMS Berlin there is an even stronger focus on innovations and face-to-face meetings among experts, with numerous formats providing opportunities for trade visitors and exhibitors. "We have further expanded our product demonstrations, which are in high demand,” adds Ruth. “It means trade visitors will be offered live, practical and impressive presentations of innovative solutions. Hako and Kärcher for example are showing their cleaning robots at work on their stands.”

At the special Ground Maintenance displays in Hall 2.2, exhibitors are showing machines, devices and accessories for maintaining green areas, streets and paths and providing winter services. In addition, the building façade and outdoor area at the south entrance to Messe Berlin is again being used to demonstrate window cleaning and aerial work platforms.

A new Speakers' Corner, an Innovation Stage and the CMS Practice Forum provide further opportunities for exchanging views. At the CMS Practice Forum in Hall 6.2 there will be lectures by experts for professionals on industry topics addressing specific audiences, including representatives of the hospitality industry and the hygiene and health sectors. For example:

• Professor Benjamin Eilts of the Faculty of Life Sciences - Applied Cleaning & Hygiene at Hochschule Albstadt-Sigmaringen - will provide an update on hospital cleaning methods.
• Christine Sudhop, managing director, Technology & Business Management, of the Federal Guild Association of the Building Cleaning Trade (BIV), will provide an overview of sustainability certificates and report on developments.
• Dr Peter Hug, managing director of the Cleaning Systems Trade Association in the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA), will chair a discussion round on the practical implementation of data standards.

The CMS Berlin Website has full details of the programme of papers. The ticket price includes admission to all lectures of the supporting programme. Access to the stage is barrier-free.

The presentation of the Purus Innovation Award 2023 by a jury of experts is an integral part of the programme of events. The Innovation Award for intelligent products and solutions is presented in six categories: Large Machines, Small Machines, Equipment, Washroom Hygiene, Digital Tools and Systems and Cleaning Products. A nine-member jury comprising high-profile experts assessed the entries and nominated the PIA finalists, who were announced on 23rd June 2023. The presentation of the awards will take place on 19th September 2023 at an evening event of CMS at the Marshall Haus on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds.

On 20th September the Mobility Cleaning Circle will take place again in an exclusive networking format for high-ranking representatives of the mobility sector and cleaning industry. Invitations will be extended to representatives of international transport companies and their buyers. Exhibitors will present practical applications and new technologies for the wide-ranging challenges of cleaning public transport such as rail vehicles, buses and aeroplanes, as well as the entire transport infrastructure including train stations and bus stops.

CMS Berlin offers startups a launch pad for their business. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs & Climate Action (BMWK) is sponsoring a combined stand (Hall 5.2) for domestic startups and newcomers who will be able to present their products and business ideas on their own stands. Additional international startups and newcomers will also present their innovations nearby.
