Great British Spring Clean Awards: Could you be a winner?
Every year in Spring, an army of LitterHeroes takes to our streets, parks, beaches, school playgrounds (and more!) to protect our environment from litter, as part of the Great British Spring Clean. This year, as organiser Keep Britain Tidy celebrates its 70th anniversary, some special awards are up for grabs by those who took part.
“Hundreds of thousands of LitterHeroes showed that the environment belongs to everyone by gathering in their communities and public spaces, and pledging to pick more than 426,626 bags of litter that would have otherwise remained in our beautiful outdoors, posing a threat to wildlife and marine life too,” says Keep Britain Tidy.
“We have been so inspired by the LitterHeroes’ unwavering commitment to protecting the environment that we have introduced the Great British Spring Clean Awards - the Golden Globes of the litter-fighting community (one might even call them the Green Globes!) - to officially recognise and reward the volunteers.
“Across the country our LitterHeroes and partners have gone above and beyond to spruce up their communities and clear litter as part of the Great British Spring Clean, and this is your chance - and ours - to say a huge thank you.”
There are six awards up for grabs, which are detailed below, and you can either nominate on behalf of yourself/your group, or another LitterHero who has inspired you by clicking the category below and filling in the form.
To be considered for the 2024 awards, please submit an entry before 31st May, 2024. This will be considered by the judging panel over the Summer and a winner and runner up in each category will be announced at the launch of the 2025 campaign.
