ISS develops female leaders through new apprenticeship schemes
ISS has announced the expansion of a new suite of apprenticeship schemes, aimed at inspiring, empowering and supporting female leaders across the business.
The Women in Leadership Apprenticeship Programme provides development and progression opportunities for female employees at ISS.
Launched on International Women's Day 2024 in March, with the first cohort starting in July, the scheme, co-ordinated in partnership with apprenticeship specialist and ISS training partner Learnmore, has been a huge success for the business.
The programme has already brought together 25 female leaders from a variety of roles and backgrounds to collaborate, share knowledge and network across teams, accounts and departments.
A new cohort will begin the apprenticeship this month, working towards a fully recognised Learnmore qualification which combines leadership and management apprenticeships. Further cohorts are expected to commence in November this year.
Eligible applicants for the programme must be current ISS employees, and contracted to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with schemes available for people at any stage in their career.
"At ISS, we strive to provide the best working environment for our employees to develop, so I'm thrilled to see that this Women in Leadership apprenticeships programme extend to provide a new more opportunities to colleagues across the business,” says Jo Roberts, chief financial Officer at ISS UK & Ireland.
“Developing the leaders of the future early is so crucial, and we hope to encourage more women to come forward and kickstart their journey in leadership through these apprenticeships."
On the success of the opening cohorts of the programme, Learnmore comments:
"It has been fantastic collaborating with ISS to launch the first Women in Leadership apprenticeships within the business, specifically across the Team Leader and Operations Manager programmes. Observing the workshops, I've been truly inspired by the participants' engagement and the insightful discussions that have emerged. It's empowering to see such progress, and with over a year still to go, the journey ahead promises even more."
ISS has presence in more than 30 countries worldwide and more than 27,000 employees across the UK and Ireland alone. In 2023, Group revenue was DKK 78.7 billion.
