Jangro achieves Period Positive Workplace certification to drive inclusive hygiene solutions in the industry
Jangro, the UK and Europe's largest network of independent janitorial distributors, has taken another step forward in its commitment to inclusivity and sustainability by becoming a certified Period Positive Workplace.
This accreditation underscores Jangro's dedication to fostering supportive environments. Menstrual health is a critical yet often overlooked aspect of workplace wellbeing. On any given day, over 800 million females globally are menstruating. However, the stigma surrounding menstruation and the lack of access to period products in workplaces can lead to stress, reduced productivity and absenteeism.
Studies show that four out of 10 females who menstruate have called in sick due to periods, while many experience a loss of productivity over multiple days each cycle.
Recognising these challenges, Jangro has joined the Period Positive Workplace initiative - a global movement dedicated to advancing menstrual equity in professional spaces. By providing access to period products in workplace washrooms, Jangro is helping to normalise conversations about menstrual health and ensure no one's productivity or wellbeing is hindered due to a lack of resources.
As a leading provider of cleaning & hygiene products, Jangro says its certification as a Period Positive Workplace reflects its broader mission to deliver practical, sustainable and high-quality solutions. The initiative aligns with Jangro's values of creating safe, supportive and inclusive spaces for all. By meeting World Health Organisation's Global Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) standards, Jangro further demonstrates its leadership in promoting holistic hygiene practices.
Workplaces that support menstrual health report numerous benefits, including reduced absenteeism, increased productivity and enhanced employee morale. Businesses that invest in providing period products and fostering a culture of openness around menstrual health often see higher retention rates and improved workplace satisfaction.
"Periods are a natural part of life, and addressing the needs of menstruating employees by providing period products in workplace washrooms is a simple yet effective step towards creating more inclusive and equitable workplaces,” notes Joanne Gilliard, CEO of Jangro.
"As a certified Period Positive Workplace, we are proud to take meaningful action to support menstrual equity, reduce stigma and ensure our team members have what they need to thrive. We now want to encourage more businesses in our sector and beyond to join the PPW coalition."
