Loo of the Year Awards named 'Corporate Champion' by British Toilet Association
The Loo of the Year Awards have been named a 'Corporate Champion' by the British Toilet Association in recognition of their pioneering work to raise standards of public washrooms across the UK.
The Loo of the Year Awards, based in Herefordshire, offer an established grading system to showcase the best toilets and washroom facilities - and offer support to any organisation which wishes to improve.
Every pub, restaurant, hotel, shopping centre, garden centre, caravan and campsite, office building or public facility which enters the Awards, agrees to an independent inspection to 'grade' the quality of their loos. Each year, the best of the best are celebrated at a day-long event.
The Awards based the grading criteria around those set by the British Toilet Association which is a not-for-profit independent membership organisation that campaigns for high standards in 'out of home' washrooms.
Raymond Martin, managing director of the BTA, announced the honour recently at the Loo of the Year Awards which is run by couple Becky Wall BEM and her husband Charles Wall. In 2024, over 1,500 venues across the UK entered the Awards and were graded on the standard of their 'loos'.
"This recognition means so much to us, as it reflects our ongoing commitment to raising washroom standards across the UK,” says Becky. “Whilst working with the BTA we are able to keep up with any new regulations and also take part in discussions about how to raise the awareness to continue to improve standards across the board."
Raymond Martin, adds:
"The BTA strives to increase the standards of provision for all away from home toilets across the UK. We are proud to have Loo of the Year Awards as a Corporate Champion because they set the highest standards of provision with the entries they get each year. Working together will increase the standard of hygienic provision of public toilets."
The British Toilet Association is known for its campaigning work including lobbying the UK Government around public toilet legislation and provision, ensuring high-quality, accessible facilities which are available to all.
Becky says:
"Working alongside the BTA, we continue to champion excellence, accessibility and innovation in the world of public and workplace toilets. A huge thank you to Raymond and the BTA team for this recognition - it's a privilege to stand alongside so many dedicated professionals in the industry."
