Cleaning for a Reason founder Debbie Sardone joins Forbes 50 over 50 for transformative impact in cleaning industry
ISSA Board and ISSA Charity Board member Debbie Sardone, founder of Cleaning for a Reason, (an ISSA signature charity) has made it onto the Forbes 50 Over 50 Impact list, which honours women making significant social contributions after the age of 50.
"Debbie's well-deserved recognition by Forbes is a shining example of how compassion and entrepreneurship can come together to transform lives," says ISSA executive director John Barrett. "Her leadership continues to elevate our industry and embody the very best of what it means to make a meaningful impact through cleaning."
From launching Buckets & Bows Maid Service out of the boot of her car to growing one of the nation's largest privately owned cleaning companies, Debbie’s entrepreneurial journey reflects resilience, innovation and heart. But her most profound legacy began with a single phone call. When a prospective client explained that she couldn't afford home cleaning due to the financial burden of cancer treatment, Debbie made a pivotal decision… no cancer patient would be turned away again.
That moment became the foundation of Cleaning for a Reason, a nonprofit organisation that
now partners with over 1,400 residential cleaning companies across the US and Canada to provide free house cleaning services for cancer patients. Since its founding in 2006, the nonprofit and its partners have donated more than $20 million in cleaning services, assisting more than 59,000 patients. Acquired by ISSA Charities in 2017, Cleaning for a Reason continues to expand its mission of providing hope and relief to those battling cancer.
