From every sale to every rescue: Velair to continue to support Mountain Rescue's life-saving work
Velair, part of the Velair Group, has confirmed that it will continue its partnership with Mountain Rescue England and Wales (MREW) into a second year, following a successful first year of fundraising through sales of its Hydra hand dryer.
Launched in January 2025, the initiative sees £1 donated from every Hydra hand dryer sold, helping to support the vital, life-saving work carried out by volunteer mountain rescue teams across England and Wales. After a strong first year of Hydra sales, the programme has already generated a meaningful contribution for the charity, with further donations expected as the campaign continues.
"Mountain Rescue England and Wales would like to express its thanks to Matt, Katie and the Velair team for all the support they've offered us over the last two years and the ongoing relationship,” says Mike Park, chief executive officer, MREW. “It's been a really positive experience for us and much appreciated. Due to the nature of the events leading up to this partnership, we feel it's appropriate to focus this donation on prevention, helping to reduce the number of accidents happening in the first place. Again, our sincere thanks."
The partnership was originally inspired by a personal experience involving Velair Group CEO Matt Anderson, who required Mountain Rescue assistance during a climb on Snowdon. Following an incident on the mountain, Mountain Rescue volunteers helped Matt to safety, leaving a lasting impression of their dedication and professionalism.
Says Matt: "Experiencing first-hand the extraordinary work of Mountain Rescue volunteers, gave me a new perspective on how vital their services are. These teams operate in the toughest of conditions to save lives and rely heavily on donations to continue their work. After such a positive first year supporting MREW, we're proud to continue the initiative and help contribute further through the success of the Hydra range."
The hand dryer at the centre of the campaign, the Hydra, is a compact, low-carbon, stainless steel high-speed hand dryer designed for efficiency and durability. Backed by a three-year, 24-hour replacement manufacturer's warranty, Hydra has become a popular choice for modern, sustainable washrooms. Units are also branded with the Mountain Rescue logo, helping to raise awareness of the charity and the work its volunteers carry out.
With thousands of incidents responded to each year by Mountain Rescue volunteers across England and Wales, continued support from partnerships like this plays an important role in helping teams maintain equipment, training and operational readiness.
