CSSA Clean Start Initiative features on BBC's The One Show to inspire next generation of cleaning professionals
In case you missed it, the Clean Start Initiative by the Cleaning & Support Services Association was featured on BBC's The One Show last month, bringing national attention to the campaign, and to the people, skills and career pathways across the cleaning industry.
Filmed during a recent school visit, the segment showcased how Clean Start is working directly with students to challenge outdated perceptions of the sector and introduce the wide range of career opportunities available.
From exploring opportunities, to real roles in action, the segment showed students engaged with industry professionals, learned about innovation in cleaning - including sustainability and robotics - and explored how the sector plays a vital role in public health, safety, and everyday life, highlighting what we know to be true - this is a sector full of progression, professionalism and purpose.
A special recognition to Daniel Cross of Tennant Company, who has been a driving force behind Clean Start since the very beginning, and to Daisy Hunter from Jangro, who works closely alongside him, engaging directly with schools and helping bring these opportunities to life for young people.
It was also fantastic to see individuals and teams represented so strongly, including Jay Adderley, operations director at CleanEvent Services, and the team at OCS, with Matthew Hanson sharing his apprenticeship journey and the support behind it.
"It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm from the students," reports Daniel. "The cleaning industry offers far more than people often realise - from technology-driven roles to leadership opportunities. Clean Start is all about opening young people's eyes to those possibilities."
The appearance on national television marks a significant milestone for the initiative, helping to bring wider attention to the importance of attracting new talent into the industry. If you missed it you can watch again on iPlayer at:
