Peartree’s Green Apple ambitions reach fruition

* PEARTREE-GREEN-APPLE-AWARD.jpgPeartree Cleaning Services has won an International Green Apple Environment Award for demonstrating how business growth can be achieved alongside measurable reductions in carbon emissions.

Peartree’s entry, ‘Growing Greener: Decoupling Business Growth from Carbon’, was recognised in the Service Industries’ sector for Environmental Improvement. Selected from more than 700 entries worldwide, Peartree will receive its Award at the House of Lords on 23rd November.

The winning entry detailed how Peartree reduced its total carbon emissions by 6.3% during the 2024/25 financial year while increasing revenue by 7.9%.

This resulted in a 13.2% reduction in emissions per £1 million of turnover and a 9.9% reduction in emissions per full-time equivalent employee. Scope 3 emissions, which account for more than 97% of Peartree’s total footprint, also fell by 6.7%.

This progress has been supported by closer engagement with suppliers, detailed monitoring of site-level environmental performance and practical measures to reduce waste, plastics and emissions throughout Peartree’s operations and supply chain.

Peartree has also retained its EcoVadis Gold rating, placing it among the top 5% of companies assessed globally. It has secured Neutral Carbon Zone Gold Certification and its emissions reduction targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative and are aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

This Award is an important recognition of the work taking place across Peartree to embed sustainability into everyday decision-making,” explains Georgie Hull, ESG manager. “Our progress has involved colleagues, clients and suppliers and demonstrates what can be achieved through clear targets, consistent measurement and practical action.

“We are proud of what we have achieved but we know there is more to do. Our focus now is on building on this progress and continuing to reduce our impact as the business grows.”

The International Green Apple Environment Awards are organised by The Green Organisation, an independent non-profit organisation established in 1994 to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice worldwide.

Peartree’s winning entry will also be published in The Green Book, an international reference guide to environmental best practice.
